Brief Background

The Department of Applied Mechanics was founded in 1965 by Professor Ivan Dafinov Kisyov who headed it until his retirement in 1973. Subsequent heads of this department were Professor Tsvetan Todorov Johnov (1973-1990), Assoc.Prof. Peycho Peychev, Ph.D (1990-1994), Assoc Prof. Hristo Denchev Tepavicharov, Ph.D (1994-1996); Assoc.Prof. Yordan Tonchev Yordanov, Ph.D. (1996-2008), Assoc.Prof. Miroslav Simeonov Petrov, Ph.D. (2008-2012). Currently the department is headed by Prof. Jordan Todorov Maximov, DSc.

The department’s staff includes two full professor, two associate professors, three chief assistant professors - doctors, two chief assistant professors, one engineer and one academic organizer.
