The Faculty of Economics was established by decision of the Academic Council of the Technical University of Gabrovo on the strength of the Academic Autonomy Act and the Memorandum of Association between the university and Balkancar Corporation in 1990. It was given the name Engineering Economic Faculty by decision of the Academic Council on 26th July 1995, and since 2003 it has been called Faculty of Economics.

The faculty trains students in accredited degree courses for acquiring the academic degrees of Bachelor and Master, and also in scientific majors leading to the degree of Doctor.

Training is carried out according to curricula meeting the state requirements and European standards for attaining Master degree.

To acquire the degree of "Master in Business Administration", students whose training lasts three semesters are required to obtain a total of 60 credits from contact hours and self-study, while those whose studies continue for four semesters must get 80 credits according to the curriculum, regardless of the form of training.

The form of training can be full-time or part-time. The graduates attain the degree of Master. They are awarded a diploma showing the number of credits. Master degree holders can continue their education for acquiring Ph.D. degree. Their professional career development is guaranteed by the quality of training at the Technical University of Gabrovo.
