The broad special qualification of students following this degree course is based on the knowledge acquired about manufacturing and fine mechanic equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic drives, technology of mechanical and precision engineering, heat and mass exchange technological processes, chemical processes in environment, ecology, methods and tools for environmental monitoring, measuring and recording systems, vibration analysis and noise protection, low-pollution and non-waste technologies, technology and equipment for fluid and waste treatment, renewable energy sources, quality control and management.
Training is carried out in well-furnished lecture halls and laboratories equipped with the necessary computers and video players. Classes are also conducted in the Centre for European Industrial and Ecological Standards, built with the financial support of the TEMPUS program of the EU, and also in the most recently built wastewater treatment plants of the region, in the training centres of the Central Balkan National Park, in the laboratories of the Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water, Veliko Tarnovo, equipped with most precise research instruments.

This new degree course at the TU of Gabrovo meets the pressing need for specialists qualified to:

  • work as experts and consultants in the development of national and regional programmes for environmental protection ;
  • work as experts in central and local government bodies, organizations and dynamic units engaged in environmental protection;
  • work as organizers, managers or experts in the teams engaged in production, operation, maintenance and servicing of equipment for environmental protection;
  • develop legislative documents, analyses, forecasts, etc. related to environmental protection;
  • conduct research in the area of environmental protection;
  • conduct training as lecturers in the problems of environmental protection;
  • be members of teams for environmental impact assessment.
